To work out 8 × 6, double 6 three times: 12, 24, 48. Also look at the last digits of the answers: 8, 6, 4, 2 and 0. Then the pattern starts again.
The ones to watch are 8 × 7 = 56, 8 × 8 = 64 and 8 × 12 = 96.
